The most wonderful evocativel musical score ever and gorgeous Julie Christie at her most beautiful and dreamboat (as he was then) Omar Sharrif. Best film ever.

used to hate Lara's Theme playing on the radio but when I finally saw the film it fitted perfectly

I was completely obsessed with the film. The best ever. It might even be the reason I married a Russian! I was going to call our baby Larissa (Lara).
But my plan was ruined when HE was born!

Love the film - and Omar. I read the book quite recently. Beautifully written and so descriptive of the horrors of the revolution. Those poor people planted an awful lot of potatoes.

Not a chance. Any film that takes more than 90 mins to tell a yarn is too long. I've not been to a cinema since 1979 and have no intention of going to one any time soon, so the big screen is out. One of the reasons I gave up going (apart from there being very little I wanted to see) was too much fannying about by members of the audience who didn't seem to be able to go a couple of hours without eating and drinking. Must be horrendous now they have mobile phones to amuse them.

I agree Stargazer, beautiful film and I love 'Lara's Theme'. I must watch it again sometime.
