Arksided - // Can you do it Andy-Hughes? I doubt it ... //
No I can't do it, but that's not the point is it?
I can't play guitar like Jimmy Page either, but the memory of seeing him with Led Zeppelin is burned into my consciousness for life.
The old adage 'You couldn't do it ...' is a false and baseless criticism of criticism.
I don't need to be to be able to do anything whatsoever, in order to have a view on someone else doing it - no-one does.
How many football fans are qualified Premier League Referees?
It doesn't stop them voicing their opinions of the people who are every Saturday, and nor should it for one moment.
// He does believe he has a talant... there's nothing wong with that... is there. //
Absolutely not, nor did I suggest that he does not have a talent, or that there is anything wrong with him believing he has a talent.
I simply pointed out that the chances of that talent being parlayed into a career where people will make an effort to come and see him, and pay for the privilege, is extremely small.
Whereas if Mr Page were to announce a concert by his estimable beat combo, millions of people, and me among them, would be hitting their keyboards and praying for tickets to watch him.

Ken - // Remember Tony Holland, Andy. Won Opportunity Knocks on 6 occasions and went on to perform at the London Paladium. His talent? Making his muscles move to Wheels Cha Cha. //
I do indeed.
But those were different times.
You only have to remember as far as the fact that 'Ant And Dec' in those days, was Hughie Greene!!!
I'll say no more.

Arksided - // I just wondered how long before you name dropped Andy-Hughes... //
Not for the first time, in your eagerness to have a pointless spiteful off-thread dig, you have rushed to show your ignorance by accusing me of something I have not done.
Allow Google to help you out with what 'name dropping' means -
// Name-dropping is used to position oneself within a social hierarchy. It is often used to create a sense of superiority by raising one's status.[citation needed] By implying (or directly asserting) a connection to people of high status, the name-dropper hopes to raise their own social status to a level closer to that of those whose names they have dropped, and thus elevate themselves above, or into, present company.
Name-dropping can also be used to identify people with a common bond. By indicating the names of people one knows, one makes known their social circle, providing an opportunity for others with similar connections to relate.[6] //
Clearly I did not say that I know Jimmy Page, merely that I have seen him play, and that puts me in company with millions of other people.
I does not, however, make me a 'name dropper'.
Next time you feel your hostility rising with such speed that you can't wait to hit your keyboard and be snide to me, make sure that are you being accurately snide, otherwise you run the risk of making yourself look not only snide, but ignorant as well.
Again.
