It's Bloody Annoying
11 Answers
I've only noticed it recently, so is it something fairly new ?
When scrolling down through answers, every so often they're interleaved with bloody adverts (in addition to those displayed on both sides). I know they fund the site but it is irritating.
And with the funds it must bring in, surely a Preview facility wouldn't be too costly :-)

To be honest, I don't find it that irritating really.
I recently contacted AB HQ to let them know that I only see the sidebar ads when I'm not logged into the site. As soon as I log in, they disappear! (Admittedly, I don't actually want to see them anyway but I thought it best to let the techies know that they've clearly got something wrong with their coding!).

^^^ To be fair to AB's techies, O_G, there are lots of different browsers, across lots of different devices. So they can't test the website on all possible combinations.
I'd expect them to check the website's functionality using Chrome, Edge and Firefox on a PC. On Android devices it would probably be best for them to check it against Chrome, Opera and Samsung Internet Browser (remembering that there are actually different versions of the site for mobile phones and tablets). With iOS, they ought to check the site with Safari. However there are a vast number of different browser/device combinations that visitors to the site actually use, so they'll never cover all of them.
[If there is a big weakness with their testing, it's probably with iOS. iPad users seem to experience far more problems with the site than anyone else does].

The ads on AB are the worst on the web.
Constantly moving and flashing about all over the place.
Completely irrelevant and can't get rid of them.
I am an arachnophobe and kept on getting an advert for trousers with picture of large spider climbing up the legs. Dreadful. I had to leave the site at once.

I've got 7 on my screen at the moment, all exactly the same, advertising "new south park game without ubisoft coming" (whatever that is).
I have what we're not allowed to mention installed but it doesn't stop these intrusive adverts all over my screen, left, right, top, bottom, and between posts.
Puts me off using Answerbank.

It is bloody annoying particularly on a tablet. Firstly because the ads come in slowly (at least for me) so as you scroll down the posts it jumps about as the ads finally load up. Furthermore I can't believe that when answering on a tablet most of the text box is greyed over by advert space and you have to then scroll about to make submit button usable. It's so unprofessional.
