Now I may have led a relatively sheltered life but seriously? Who would do that? and who would watch it on TV? I only saw the trailer and I wanted to hide behind the sofa! MAABOF!

I think the contestants prove that some people will do virtually anything to appear on television, including undergoing a permanent dignity bypass.

As for people who watch it, long and ongoing television programming shows that there is an appetite for watching strangers flagellate themselves emotionally for the entertainment of other strangers.

Mrs Hymie has a penchant for watching this rubbish (mostly the Aussie version) – once she finds it on catch-up, I’ll never hear from her again.

Although the people are shown meeting for the first time and getting married shortly thereafter – it is not a real wedding, it’s just for the TV program.

I think the original theory was that for many years people from other cultures ànd Countries have been marrying strangers.

But most of the applicants on this show are wannabes wanting their 15 minutes of fame.

Darley - I think you are crediting the programme makers with far more sophistication and forethought than they ever actually possess.

I am sure the idea got no further than the idea of shallow narcissists looking for fame, and willing to utterly humiliate themselves on television in order to get it.
