Growing up, everyone i knew pronounced it - Doe LENZ, - to rhyme with - So Pens - with emphasis on - Lenz.

but actually it's pronounced - DOE l'nz - to rhyme with - Stolens or Stow L'nz - emphasis on - DO.

even though i know how its really pronounced i still think of it as i did growing up.

I've no idea where we got that pronunciation from - we all watched the shows & they say it numerous times.

unless its a english thing? is that just the way english people say it?

so how have you always pronounced Dolenz?

So pens or Stolenz ?

thanks :D

Lenz, for me.
He was always my favourite of the band.
Philoctets - // I seem to recall hearing his name at the start of "Elephant Boy", so have always though of him as "Dolens" //

The series was called 'Circus Boy', and Mickey was credited as 'Mickey Braddock'.

ive always said linnet for lynott too. never really thought much about it though.

maybe if there was reruns of circus boy, the pre show announcer said micky dolenz

the weird thing about micky dolenz is that all the monkees used their real names on the show and said them on the show frequently, so its not like people only ever saw his name in the credits
so its odd that people would pronounce it differently anyway.

i only noticed this when i rewatched all the shows a few months ago and it just sounded wrong to my ears ... which is weird.

i also thought Do LENZ sounds 'cooler' than DO lens.

Peter Tork was - and still is - my beloved :D

I'm sure we still have a circus boy annual somewhere. It's a bit like Princess Eugenie. She pronounces it as You-jun-i, whereas surely it's the female version of Eugene (You-Jean) so should be pronounced You-Jeany. ???
STOlenz for me. I suppose I must have picked it up from the dialogue, I don't know where else I would have heard it.
The Ange ( Prince Andrew silly) said it was
er-jay-knee
sort of like the French - well hur hur hur he would know all about that you know !
he now has other things to keep his mind sharp
