Firestick uses WiFi, not an aerial

No. You need to have Wi-Fi, internet connection.

Firestick connects to your router which has broadband, not over the airwaves.

You'll need an aerial for the TV if you plan to watch that as well as your Firestick. But as others have said you only need WiFi for the Firestick itself.

But you can also watch the main channels from Firestick on WiFi

I know you can watch TV from a firestick, however if you download a lot of apps they take up a lot of space and often slow it down.
