Hill Of Crosses From Riga
Looking to book a day trip during our 4 days in Riga. The only one that really interests me is the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania. Looking at a couple of different itineraries there's HOC and Rundale Palace or HOC and Šiauliai City (fourth largest city in Lithuania). I'd like to get the excursion booked soon.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be much appreciated.
We are staying in the old town of Riga and any pointers where to eat and drink and what to see would be much appreciated, also what to avoid. Many thanks peeps.

For the stuff locally, yes, perhaps, but I want to get the HOC trip booked in advance. I'm just curious as to what would be a good itinerary. As I said, it's the only day trip from Riga that interests me, having googled and looked at a fair few.
I think the Rundale palace one is going to be a winner, but if there's anyone who knows that part of the world and can suggest something I've overlooked or don't know about, I would be very interested.
When we did our trip to Neuschwanstein a few years ago we combined it with Linderhof and Oberammergau. It was a very nice day out.

LadyCG; A local dog rescue centre owner here near Stuttgart, heard from a contact he had in Budapest that a dog shelter there was not looking after it's dogs well & was being closed down, he drove a lorry there & picked them all up.
She's actually a sheep dog, but doesn't know it !
From this Hungarian breed came our Border collies & the Australian sheep dogs, I'm told.

you probably know about this already but Riga's art nouveau heaven (though you can only view most of them from outside)
