Just to start, I've recently been moved on from working mostly with people with dementia, to adults with learning disabilities... I wasn't sure I would feel comfortable here... but, I just love them, kind of wish I had done this years ago x
A friend of mine worked helping adults learn to read. Dire (amusing) consequences in one case.
She taught one woman to read as a surprise for her family. Was done quite secretly. Wife then read a letter her husband left around. It was a rather passionate and explicit letter from his girlfriend. Husband then blamed my friend for the break up of his marriage saying that 'everything was perfect until his wife learnt to read so why did she have to interfere'. Or words to that effect.
I know the consequences were serious as children were involved but I must admit initial reaction for both my friend and myself when she told me was to laugh.
I have some leftover mince pies, almost in date, that nobody wants...? You're welcome :-). Even some custards- and 17 avocados due to a misunderstanding with online asda lol xx
I've got chocolate...I might share it...but then again...
Did anyone see Chris Packam's BBC program last night? It was about autism and how he encouraged 2 young people to make films about their personal experiences. Very enlightening and moving.
Please help yourself, MissT- do you have a chainsaw? X
Sounds interesting, prudie.... my youngest, and 2 nephews are autistic... but I don't have normal TV, so will have to look elsewhere (I'll let you off the chocolate, as you are a nice person) :-)
Well as I got a mention I'll join in :-) By sweet cured pickled herrings do you mean roll mops MissT? If so I love roll mops. My husband thinks they are probably the most disgusting foodstuff ever after bananas.
I feel a bit guilty to say I put half a box of in date Thornton's chocs in the food bin last week. I was just sick of the box lying around from Xmas.
