Bodyform Advert

maybe I am showing my age but I find the latest Bodyform advert in very poor taste - the one showing the red blobs on the towel - is that really necessary? We all know what happens, or if we don't then that probably means we wouldn't need to use them. I find the advert makes me cringe every time I see it. Some things are best left to the imagination.

I remember the criticism that these companies got in the 80s for advertising their products.
The red blobs is to show the dispersal rate

I remember the older advert - the music was an earworm and even little kiddies were singing 'oooooh, Bodyform, Bodyform for you-hoooooo'.
Those were the days when women were portrayed swimming, skiing, skydiving - always wearing white - in the sanitary wear adverts.
Those adverts were slammed for not being realistic, using blue liquid instead of red.

Complain to the body that covers advertisement.
There may be and probably is others that agree with you

They've never shown any sort of blobs on toilet paper in adverts as far as I know, just Labrador puppies, kittens and cartoon bears

I've seen the advert and my thoughts are mixed! I don't object to it but think showing the blood is unnecessary and perhaps they are just trying to be woke (hate that word).

I totally agree and thought the same lankeela. The brown blobs on toilet paper is a perfect analogy. Then will we have yellow used on the Tena ads as it demonstrates absorbency? It's clearly now a sign of being uptight, bigoted even, to find it distasteful.

My husband went to a boys school and was very naive about women's stuff. When we were trying to get pregnant he was very surprised to learn thete is realistically only a very short window in which you can get pregnant each month. I'm not sure what he knew about sanitary products as it never came up but 5 children and 1 peri menopause later he certainly does!

I too have mixed feelings. And I imagine the questions coming from little ones...'mummy, why is that red?' Ok if they are old enough, but....?

At a very, very young age my son asked me at bath time how babies got into Mummies' tummies. Brief but factual information given by me. Long pause for him to think and then, very seriously. " I was looking forward to being a man but not doing that"

many years ago we were playing and my neighbours son came out with a sanitary towel (the ones like church pew cushion )with loops as a face mask hooked around his ears lol x

Made me smile when I saw that the blue had been abandoned. Did wonder what the reaction of the public would be. Still sanitised though
