It appears they are not all in on it.

'Cunk is not real, of course. She is played by Bolton-born comedian Diane Morgan. Although many of the people she interviews in her series are not aware of this, as she explains between sips of water. “They are just told they are being interviewed for a BBC history documentary, I think. They are quite flattered and are keen to explain their area of expertise. We are not taking the *** out of them, but it’s nice to see them struggling and having to recalibrate their ideas.”'

I've watched Cunk on earth and enjoyed the series.
She plays the dipsy interviewer beautifully.

I’d be very surprised if any of the interviewees were not in on the act. I too think she is hilarious.

I would think they are told it is comedy before the interviews, they have such serious top interviewees that they have straight faces.

Diane Morgan was fabulous as Mandy - how a real person managed to look so very like a cartoon is beyond my comprehension. The legs, facial expressions and gait are extraordinary.
