Gordon Ramsay for his no bull attitude but i have made many Jamie Oliver recipes to great sucsess.
Does Nigella Lawson count? I think she is incredibly sexy, but I also adore her easy going approach to cookery and the way she makes me want to tackle new recipes in the kitchen. Yummy!!!
i go for brian turner -at least he looks the part-and good old fashioned cooking -yum
Gino D'Acampo
Little Chef - for his all day breakfasts and pancakes.

No contest--------Rick Stein by a country mile.

His dishes are clean and uncomplicated, emphasising importance of fresh and quality ingredients.

Hopefully, his TV programmes and books encourage us to search harder for local produce.

I also have a sneaky respect for Jamie Oliver and his youthful enthusiasm!!!

They're all an absolute genius. I watch ready steady cook most days and although the chefs get a bit of warning about what they're getting, the stuff they serve up looks simple awesome.

Some of the enthusiasm given off by Ainsley Harriott is amaizing and that's what i like to see....passion for their job.
Lesley Walters is good too but here's a big hats off to all the TV chefs.....i get an incredible amount of inspiration from them all.
Madhur Jaffrey, I've learned some amazing Indian dishes from her and she makes them all seem so simple, AND unlike so many recipes that we are bombarded with hers actually work.

I think I agree with most of you. (Except maybe the Little Chef, as I've never actually eaten there!) But I completely agree with boobesque with Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver. I like what Jamie Oliver did with the school dinners. Plus I greatly enjoyed "Jamie's Italy." I like Gary Rhodes too (minus his attempts in hell's Kitchen) But his obbession with butter is a little too much for me!

Thanks for your answers!

James Martin - not sure whether he's a good chef or not but who cares!! ;-)
We are overun with celebrity chefs these days and I have to admit I adore Gordon Ramsey and Rick Stein. They can come and cook for me anytime. If it hadn't been for good old Fanny Craddock they wouldn't be on our screens today.I think she started the trend although she couldn't cook for toffee. It used to be hilarious to watch her floating around in a ball gown concocting Chicken a la King while Johnnny got steadily p**ssed in the background before he was commanded "to take it out of the oven" !
