Where are you actually living? I think you'll find if you're livnig in England that it is a big no-no, they will only do local channels but if Irish sport is what you're into they do have Setanta but you have to pay through the nose for it. You could always call Sky Digital and ask them but if you've posted a question here, it means either you've found them about as helpful as I have which the rough equivalent of using walking through the rain in your socks and hoping to stay dry or it hasn't occured to you yet. I don't think you can tune channels into the new box as far as I know they set in the channels depending on what package you pay for. If you want mutiple channels, I actually recommend TeleWest Broadband, they may seem more expensive but they run their whole operation so you don't get anyone passing the buck when something goes wrong.
You can get extra channels using the services menu and then add channels but at the moment i can only find other regional stations ie BBC scotland HTV or Tyne Tees. As to RTE i was told in March when i started with Sky they would be bring RTE into the standard 16 package. I'm still waiting, as noted Sky are as much good as a chocolate teapot.
Chocolate teapot, that is such a great expression.
