On C5 last Wednesday, a wallow in 70s nostalgia. I can honestly say I have never eaten much of the food featured, except Spam and Findus Crispy Pancakes.
Worth a look on catch up if you're old enough. Just don't expect in-depth journalism.

I went to an Indian once that I reckon used Vesta curries! Awful!
I saw that...I've always wondered what Findus pancakes were like. Don't think I'll be trying the recipe ;)
I seem to remember my mom buying tv dinners once...awful. And she always cooked from scratch with a lot of veg from the garden.
Question Author
I have seen a Vesta curry ready to eat but didn't try it. I didn't have the bottle.
Question Author
I really didn't like the pancakes I tried, cheese and ham, I think. Just nasty.
Question Author
I was very fond of tinned fruit pie filling, especially the peach.
No idea why, I make perfectly good pies and crumbles using fresh fruit
Barry, you don't need a bottle to make a Vesta curry.
Everything you need is in the box. :-)

Never eaten "Angel Delight", Barry?
Question Author
Only once, the butterscotch flavour. I didn't like the texture
Question Author
The children liked it
I watched it.

I was born in 70 so don’t remember the shopping itself, but toward the end of the decade I do remember being fed crispy pancakes, and I did have a soft spot for a Vesta curry. Fast forward 10 years, and I know it’s a cliche, but in the late 8Os at University my diet pretty much consisted of Pot Noodles. I didn’t have a pot to pi5s in and they were cheap and quick. For a bit of nostalgia I had one a few years ago, and it was awful, so I have no idea how I managed to survive on them.
Question Author
I can't believe people are still buying Pot Noodles.
I'm convinced nobody would have tried most of these products without the bombardment of TV adverts
When Mr RR first moved over from Ireland, he used to eat Pot Noodle sandwiches.

I used to enjoy a Findus Pancake and a Vesta. Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole now. Spam Fritters I still would eat, but don't because I try not to eat too much processed food.
Fray Bentos Pies, I would definitely eat, but haven't for years. I love, love the pastry for some reason.

I also really like and so still eat occasionally, Birds Eye Chicken Pies
Question Author
I used to enjoy the Fleur de Lys steak pies from the chippy. I think they were bought out by Pukka but they are not as nice
The Vesta curry was my first taste of Asian food.
It might have put me off it for life.
I’m still quite partial to a Fray Bentos pie.
^. There's no meat in them anymore. The last one I bought was all pastry and gravy.
Boil-in-the-bag fish with parsley sauce.
I still can’t eat parsley all these years later.
