The first episode of Star Trek was aired on US TV.
Did you know? Kirk was not in the pilot, the Capt was Christopher Pike, played by Jeffrey Hunter, also famous for playing Jesus in King of Kings (1961).

A fun piece of trivia that builds on this is that the first episode to air, "The Man Trap", was neither the pilot with Captain Pike ("The Cage"), nor the second pilot with Kirk ("Where No Man Has Gone Before"). That second pilot became the third episode to air (on September 22nd), while "The Cage" was only available in full from the mid 1980s (1986 on VHS, 1988 on TV). Much of that episode did get released earlier, in the two-parter "The Menagerie" on November 17th/24th 1966, but as I say wasn't available in full for another 20 years.

further... originally No1 was Majel Barrett later Nurse Chapell and Lwaxana Troi in STNG and also the voice of the computer in both TOS and STNG! When Spock became no 1 he was never referred to as such.
And now, of course, Christopher Pike is the captain of the Enterprise in the new Star Trek series, Strange New Worlds.

And it's really good.
is that still just on paramount mozz?
I think so Bebnobs. I stream it on a different site though, called Solar Movies.
Question Author
After the Pilot GR thought that the whole No1 and Spock dynamic didn't really work. Nimoy talks about this is his book (I am spock)...after much soul searching GR said "I promoted Spock and married no 1!" Later Majel of course became Nurse Chapel.
Did you notice that spok was a very emotional character on that first episode?
Question Author
Yes dave that was another change that nimoy talks about in his book. At this stage GR was still refining the characters and decided that Spock would be better as we know him today mainly unemotional but occasionally beset with emotional episodes as in "Amok Time".
In the original Halloween movie, Michael Myers mask was a William Shatner ( captain Kirk) mask!
Question Author
Yes Dagman I was aware of that very interesting.
If memory serves, I think the interracial kiss, between Kirk and Uhura was the first ever televised?

^That's brilliant, builder. Love it. :o)
Question Author
Dagman, no, that is a common belief (Plato's Children) but there was one in a scene on the Ed sullivan show in 1958 when, Ironically it was William Shatner who kissed France Nuyen in a Scene from the world of Suzie Wong.
Question Author
Builder, no, I didn't know that, fantastic.

Only in America ! ! !
Oh no, Canary.

Montgomery Scott will be born in the same place as Mary, Queen Of Scots, Linlithgow, not far from where I'm sitting right now.
Teresa May was in reality Spock. As as evident in this image. Her Barnet is being used to try and disguise the ears.
