Contestants on The Chase are time-limited and I think that's why they make mistakes or say daft things. Sit me down with an exam paper and I'm happy but  I couldn't do The Chase.  With no thinking time I couldn't stand the pressure.  I'd be rubbish - and probably find myself being talked about on AB!

Some of these people most probably sit at home with a cuppa and a biccie and shout out all the correct answers then think they are clever enough to go on quiz shows.  It's a different scenario when sitting/standing under warm lights and a brief time-scale to answer questions.  If  you watch The Chase on a regular basis, you will have seen professionals such as doctors, vets, etc. fail miserably and as for the celebrities - enough said!

Just watching an old episode where, on a question about poisons,  one contestant said she knows arsenic is about fire so that can't be the answer.  I don't think timing was her problem.  😂

I agree with Moorea, I can bark answer after answers sat at home but think I'd lose it under the spotlight. And don't be shy Mr Hopkirk  15-1 with the late William G. Is something to be proud of.

Husband is quite clever and confident so I applied for him to go on 15-1. He went out after mixing up Penelope Keith and Felicity Kendall, and the price of a tv licence. It's easy at home. I wouldn't be able to say my own name.

I went on for the challenge and got to the final chase where we all dithered and scored low.

The worst bit is the cashbuilder and you can easily get fuddled. The questions with 3 choicesd are not too bad because there is nearly alsaye a clue in the answers.
