Same reason as it took ages for Jimmy Saville and Rolf Harris to be confronted.

Because it's very difficult for women to report rape to our heavily-patriarchal misogynist police forces.

On top of that, rape is a classic "Which person do you believe?" crime and people "can't believe" a celebrity would do that sort of thing so victims think there's little point reporting it..

You seem to have missed one or two fairly recent briefings from various forces, Canary, times have and are changing.

If you say so Doug

As with Saville I wasn't surprised. Both of them were obvious wrong uns.

Has there been a development, Hopkirk?

Because at the time, people had to put up or shut up. It's still not easy to report a rape and even less easy to report inappropriate sexual advances, but it's getting better and there's safety in numbers for the vulnerable victims.

Ooops.

A quote from this link :-

In a now deleted YouTube video, Brand can be heard joking about raping a woman during a recording of Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast in 2013.

In the clip, published by the MailOnline, he told the audience: “It’s not my extremism that I need to protect, it’s my mundanity.

“I’m just a bloke from Essex, from a single-parent family, that is a pretty comprehensive show-off.”

After a pause, Brand added: “Oh, and also I raped someone once.

“I killed her after, she’ll never tell.”

The audience can be heard laughing, while Herring shakes his head and chuckles.

As much as I cannot stand Russell Brand I still don't believe you should be able to make and televise a documentary with all these accusations without him having been charged with a single thing yet.

I can't stand him either but pretty sure he is guilty - he looks it.

Well spotted, jenny.

Lucy Letby was a tricky one, she didn't look guilty.

I agree with Smowball at 23.56.

Also, as mentioned previously, I would have found Letby not guilty.

Hopkirk and Jenny - If you can judge guilt by looking at someone, your local police forces have a job for each of you.

Whether he's guilty or not, I think he's finished.

Although I agree that trial by media is abhorrent, if you use the media to attack others you can hardly complain about retaliation in kind.

I don't think he is being trialed by media, the paper( Times) have simply printed their story about him, if he's being tried, it's by the public in general, not the media

could be worse, under TROP being raped is a crime!

classic celebrity move to pull a complete character change didnt he used to be some drugged up rock and punk figure and now he is some spiritual guy who tells us things we already know about business and politics

i think he knew this would come out one day and planned for it by changing his public image

will leave it for the courts to decide but dont let someone make you think theyre innocent because they convince you not to trust the media 😂
