Who was Avenue Princess Grace in Monaco named after?  Marie Antoinette.  And there was another funny one she said, can't remember it now.  She went for minus £11,000 and has got through. I hate it when they do that.  Bet she doesn't answer one question.

She did  .....

Sort of agree with you but if she hadn't gone for the minus thay may not have won anything

Yes one or two, I was quite surprised.  She can get a solid gold whistle now.

The answers are the typical brainfreeze that occurs for contestants in TV quiz shows.

They are there under the lights, with a camera pointing at them, and their mind goes blank and they say the first thing that comes into their head.

That gives huge amusement to the armchair viewers in the comfort of their own homes, who think this is stupidity, when it's not, it's reaction to pressure.

I didn't see it but I can understand why stupid answers are sometimes blurted out.  I would be rubbish on any show that gave me very limited thinking time.  I'd have been miffed at her for taking the minus £11,000 offer though.

I missed their final chase.  Did Jo answer any questions after taking the low offer?

^^ Well said  ..  I often wonder how the armchair critics would fare in similar circumstances?

BTW, isn't UC so much better with Amol Rajan?  He injects some pace and there's regularly 400+ points scored per match.

The present Mrs Hughes and I are long-term fans of UC, but having watched the first of the 'new breed' we were so put off by Mr Rajan's style, that we have not re-visited since.

Hopefully he is a little less manic, having settled into the role, but I'm not confident we'll be returning.

I don;t want 'pace' I want measured questions and answers, it's not a giddy game show for under-twenty-fives - hopefully that's not the typically skewed BBC approach in its obsession with 'young audiences'.

I know what you mean, andy, but I find it refreshing after the last couple of increasingly excruciating series with JP, who was clearly struggling, and kept going long after he should have bowed out.
