Deadline for Times TV quiz is TODAY: and am STILL stuck on Question 3 in Quotes: Which doctor recently quit with the words: "I'm not much of a one for goodbyes."?
a) Dr John Carter (Noah Wyle)
b) Dr Elizabeth Corday (Alex Kingston)
c) Dr Who (Christopher Eccleston)

Never heard of the first two, but doing research on the web seems they are both from the TV show ER.

Further research shows that John Carter left ER in 2005 and Elizabeth Corday left in 2004.

I cannot find the exact quote but I would go with John Carter as he is the most recent.

Dr Who

*wry grin* Yes, this is the problem. Based on what my googling-ad-infinitum has revealed of their characters, I too had narrowed my search down to Dr Carter and Dr Who.

Unfortunately I cannot find the scripts to their final episodes anywhere, and therefore am gloomily realising that I cannot pin the quotation down any further than that... Which is why I was hoping that someone might know for definite!

Ho hum! Thanks so much for replying, vehelpfulguy and carolegif! P'raps someone else will be able to chuck in the casting vote to tilt it one way or t'other!

According to an article I was directed to using Yahoo rather than Google, it was Alex Kingston. I'll try and put the link in.

I watched the episode of Dr Who where Chris topher Eccleston left and I'm 95% certain that was exactly what he said.

Noticed the link doesn't work.

put the quote into yahoo and it should return three hits, the top one of which is for a Times entertainment review. Under the section on the West Wing, the author talks about Alex Kingston leaving ER.

Yeah I've just checked the times site and it says Alex Kingston. Since it is a Times quiz, I'd go with that.

THANK you! you're a star! The quotation SOUNDED like it must be Dr Who - but I'd been to the bbc.co.uk/cult website and it seemed rather that he'd said "Rose, you were fantastic. And you know what? So was I"...: and the forums about ER suggested that Carter had given a speech about how he'd grown up with the other characters (but no mention of the quote) - and now you've found the precise quote and proved that it was the THIRD and least counted of the choices which was correct. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
