Anyone who didn't have a clue could guess and would have a 33 % chance of picking the right one. But I reckon a fair number will have heard of quarks (wasn't there a song 'quark, strangeness and charm') and Higgs (well Higgs Bosun) because it was in the news maybe 10 years ago with teh hadron Collider, whereas gluon just sounds like a made up word most haven't heard of; so for many it's a 50/50 choice between quark and Higgs even if they just guess. And then there will be maybe 10% of people who know for certain it is Higgs, and they'll get it right.
So approaching 50% might not be too far out.
