I really enjoyed the first one yesterday.. I do like Stephen Fry so I'd like it no matter what, he is so knowledgeable and can just talk in detail about pretty much any subject or category.

Your thoughts on Jeopardy! after the first one..?

I disagree with most of you and really enjoyed it as I have its previous attempts to catch on.  Stephen Fry was excellent, just got on with it and minimum amount of chit chat.

I like him too but with that show I got to the first commercial break and turned it off.  I found it quite tedious.

I've seen the show in America and I've never understood why they have to answer a question with a question.  What is the point of that?  Does anyone know?

It annoyed me and we ended up turning it off.  Shame because I was looking forward to it.

Me too, Barmaid.  It was aggravating.

Stephen Fry said they had to answer with either, "What is...?" or, "Who is...?" and would be lenient to begin with but not later and the answer would be wrong if they didn't, resulting in money being deducted.

When giving answers to unanswered questions, he sometimes missed out the what is/who is part.

Much as I like quizzes, I could bear no more than a few minutes of this.  It's been running in the USA for decades, but I don't see it catching on here - this is the fourth attempt to establish it in the UK (Channel 4 in 1983, ITV in 1990 and Sky One in 1995) and I reckon it's doomed to failure, just like the others.

Glad it wasn't just me.  Does anyone know why the answers must be in question form?  I can't think of a single reason.

Can't stand the man!

That might be the 'jeopardy' - you lose if you forget to do it.

Could be brainiac.  Good thinking.

NAOMI, I think it is just to be different.

I think brainiac is probably right.   Its called Jeopardy for a reason.

Tedious! Boring! and having to begin each answer with 'Who is?' or 'What is?' was so aggravating

Having to answer as a question makes it like the Yes/No interlude from Take Your Pick!

I too, found the gimmick of responding to the answer rather than answering the question very irritating and I won't be watching regularly. I assume the gimmick is something like the children's game "Simon says".

"[The creator Merv] Griffin discarded his initial title of What's the Question? when skeptical network executive Ed Vane rejected his original concept of the game, claiming, "It doesn't have enough jeopardies."

I used to love the yes/no interlude on Take Your Pick, in the good old days of steam radio, before they ported it to television.

I've seen it in the States and never understood why it was still around, it's tedious and repetitive, can't believe that Stephen Fry has lowered his sights so much, he can't be on his uppers!
