Did they shout/stress the letters you've put in bold then. And they spell Fleming's name wrong?

Only joking

Question Author

No I did that to help the angry mob who always mis the point of these. However I think the question does it's best to communicate the answer.

I often wondered what the long Queue at AB gates was for  ...
The Chase follow-up🙄

I wouldn't have known that answer. Was it MM?

I like M&M's...peanuts.

I've never seen a Bond film, or read any of the books. I might have said 'Q', that rang a very distant bell!

M & M was a rapper. Not a sweet wrapper though. My name is, My name is,    ...   Stan.

Question Author

10:58/19:02, the question said what letter, singular, then gave a name both halves of which started with the letter, you don't have to know anything else.

I'd have got flummoxed!

I have to 'ah but' here. If you have not read the books Judi Dench played M in several films and definitely not Sir anything

Q seems just as valid an answer to me, sorry.

Question Author

19:18 how?

Question Author

19:13, yes but not in Ian Flemming's books and it's not really relevant anyway. As with most of these no actual knowledge is needed, that's the point. The answer is obvious and given in the question.

Sir Miles Messervy could have been known as Q, X, Z, anything really.  There's no suggestion in the question that his known name relates to the first letters of his forename and surname.

M

Miles Messervy

Just coincidental isn't it?

TTT .. as has been said before, it's a whole different ball game answering quick-fire questions under pressure, as you will know!

Question Author

19:34, yes M is actually named after Mansfield Smith-Cumming, the first head of the secret service. Though that's not really relevant to the point here.

^ maybe the contestant knew that and then thought this might be a trick question

My mother had five children  and eight grandchildren. It wasn't until she read a certain book with her first great-grandson that she realised there were only four children in The Famous Five...

Question Author

"^ maybe the contestant knew that and then thought this might be a trick question" - then why "Q"?

Question Author

"My mother had five children  and eight grandchildren. It wasn't until she read a certain book with her first great-grandson that she realised there were only four children in The Famous Five..." - how is that relevant?
