I was in the middle of watching a programme when Sky suddenly asked me for a pin number. I had a note of two different numbers, but neither is accepted and I only have one more chance. What has happened?

The method to unblock a pin depends on which Sky product you have. Maybe a look at this Sky help site maybe.

Select your Sky device and then click through to find out how to reset your PIN:

Before I try that (though I don't doubt that it will be effective) - I saw something when I was googling that said the Sky pin is the last four digits of the viewing card. I've just found that. Should I give it a try?

It's probably worth a try!

It would be a brave person to tell you to try unless they are 100% confident that it will.

Can you remember changing the PIN when you set it up?

There's a very brave man!

Do you not watch Sky much? I think before 9pm I have to put in the sky pin almost every day.

I wouldn't bank on that either. When we had multi room we had a pin for each room. Follow the  instructions from Sky  ...  that require you to know your account number.

How on earth I managed That I don't know. Unless it it my mention of muti room. 😮

OK... just psyched myself up to risk the last four digits of my viewing card, turned on the TV to try it and the programme was there in all its glory. So maybe just a temporary glitch. But it's been useful because I have at least run to earth all the paperwork and I will keep your advice for future reference. Thank you all very much.

Glad you're sorted.  Maybe you were trying to watch a programme deemed not fit for children before 9pm.  You'd be surprised what programmes fall in to that category

It was a daytime programme on Sky Witness I've watched before without any problem. But at least I'll know what to do if it happens again.

The pin was the last 4 numbers, but if you'd been sent a new card at anytime it would have a different number.

Now you know your pin, either memorise it, or change it.

Yes, I'm quite glad I didn't have to put it to the test because we had that card many years ago. I don't remember ever having a new one. I've put the number safely with the rest of the Sky paperwork.
