....but I knew the dates of the big battles etc when I was 11 so the age is not a factor.

I certainly wouldn't have known that at 11 years old. And I wouldn't have been interested in battles.  I would have been learning  about serfs and vileins, strip farming etc at 11.  But as I said, I hated history at school.  I've learned far more since leaving school.  I liked economic history though.

Well Tora Bora is the cave complex in Afghanistan and it happened shortly after 9/11 so I'd say around 2002. I assume that's what you mean. Not sure what point you are making though. The amusement factor is not there for a sensible guess. But guessing 1066 for Waterloo now that does have a high TWAU factor, that's the point that most seem not to grasp.
