Users always say that it was like high noon on AB in the good ole days - fighting and hate.
But I think there is more hate on here now than ever before towards Muslims, Trans and 'lefties' to name a few - its all allowed to remain so appears sanctioned by the owners of AB.
They wonder why people leave or don't want to pay.

However, the discussion of current topics, from whichever perspective, shouldn't be stifled.
Being passionate about a particular issue doesn't give anyone the right to point fingers or use insulting language about someone else or their point of view.
there are posts on this website which advocate for white supremacy, others which call for the eradication or persecution of muslims, some which call for machine guns to be used against refugees. i also think there are pretty cut and dry justifications for atrocities against palestinians but on this website that claim will be treated as a controversial one.
i am fascinated by the reactionary right... perhaps to a degree i should not be. but the fact of the matter is that if Answerbank took seriously the idea of taking down hate speech or extremist ideas then it would decimate many sections of the site and i suspect is quite reliant on such traffic. Answerbank is rather fascinating among far-right forums because it maintains deniability about being one in a way that 8kun or stormfront no longer can... indeed there are some posters who simply copy and paste things from places like that and do very little else. if the website does survive --and i don't think it will--it will eventually join that sphere and perhaps act as an entry-level gateway to the others... that is sadly the only audience it is likely to attract.
i think it's a reflection of society today. over the last few years, there has been shift to "if you're not with us you're against us" attitude in society. look at brexit. it divided the country more or less 50/50 and while elemments within those groups are probably close together, they are seen as totally opposing
its the wiping out of persons that concern me if they are different in anyway then lets get rid of them.
Coven? there was never a coven only in you head!
and I am not just talking about what goes on in news - its the vile accuassations and such like.
I am no shrinking violet - but to be honest its even beginning to get me down.
There are certainly a few people on here who seem to think that they are just chewin' the fat with their like-minded mates in a club somewhere, rather than on a public forum where other people with other opinions, values and beliefs are also allowed to post their thoughts and feelings.
There are people on here with whose opinions I absolutely, fundamentally disagree - my hackles rise when I see them written down but I would never call them names to shut them down.
I think anyone calling for the wholesale eradication of a certain sector 'because ........' is probably a bit too dim to be able to engage with in a proper grown-up conversation about the issues.
