I've just come across The Windsors on Netflix.  While it is probably a few years since first transmitted it's still very funny, but must have angered some.

If a 'disgusted of Tunbridge Wells', or similar , wrote to the producers threatening a horse whipping would that be a matter for the attention of the police?

No.

Satire is not a criminal offence.

I haven't made myself clear.

If someone threatened violence against the producers, would that excite the interest of the police?

Possibly.

You're better asking the police, they would know better than anyone on here.

only if they used the wrong pronouns!

I often wondered how Sue Townsend got away with writing 'The Queen and I' which sees the Royal Family moving to a council housing estate.  I dig it out now and again and re-read it and still find it hilarious even though half of the family have passed away.

I think The Windsors is really funny.

Viz had a strip called "The Broon Windsors".

They seem to have stopped it since her Maj passed on though.

As we pay the Royals to entertain us and have no choice but to pay (like the BBC tax we pay), in my opinion they should be on tv in shows like this instead of stand-ins.

There was that thing called the Royle Family too: couldn't even get their name right 😂

Hi Sandy - yes - no - I watch an episode or two for the studied stupid dialogue

Harry: I dont need an autocue as everyone  knows I cant read. I havent written a speech either

Kate - I know I am the daughter of a gipsy, buut I have risen above that....,my children tho' will always be traveller folk....

called the Royle Family too:

Itch interesting factoids about the Royle Family - every episode was in the front room and nowhere else

Ricky Tomlinson made £1m from it and other films ( doubtless superman and James Bond) and gave it to a Liverpool Theatre company....

I liked the Windsors but don't have Netflix. As an aside sandy the lady who played Camilla died recently and I thought she was good

Hi JJ,

I'm sorry to hear that.  She played the role with... gusto.

I dont think it was a hard act to er grasp, or portray...

The production values were lowish - altho one of the settings where Charles and Camilla conspire is very like an Adam interior in the North ( somewhere).

The fight scene between Camilla and Pippa - the stuntmen in wigs obviously had a lot of fun, rather than a cat-fight

Does anyone remember Alistair McGowan's Big Impression? 😊

PP - not actually true.  One episode the family went round to Denise for Christmas dinner and when Denise was about to give birth, the scene took place in the bathroom with Jim and Denise.
