Beauty contests are a topic of considerable debate with a wide range of perspectives. Here are some key points from both sides of the debate:

Pros:

Confidence Building: Participants often report increased self-confidence and personal development.

Scholarships and Opportunities: Many beauty contests offer scholarships and career opportunities in modeling, entertainment, and other fields.

Cultural Exchange: International beauty contests can foster cultural exchange and understanding.

Platform for Advocacy: Some contestants use their visibility to advocate for important social issues and causes.

Cons:

Objectification: Critics argue that beauty contests emphasize physical appearance over other qualities, leading to objectification of participants.

Unrealistic Standards: These contests can promote unrealistic and often unattainable standards of beauty, potentially leading to negative body image and self-esteem issues.

Gender Stereotypes: They can reinforce traditional gender roles and stereotypes.

Exclusionary: Many contests have been criticized for lacking diversity and inclusivity, marginalizing individuals who don't fit certain criteria.

Overall, whether beauty contests are seen as positive or negative often depends on one's perspective and the specific context of the contest in question. They can offer valuable opportunities for some, while also perpetuating harmful stereotypes and standards.

I was runner up in a knobbly knees contest in Butlins Skegness in the 1970s.

My first and last flirtation with fame.  I wouldn't do it again.

That's the closest I've ever came to a beauty contest.

I was once crowned the most beautiful baby, but then I grew up.

Bit like the story of the ugly duckling, backwards.

Is this a trial in AI posting?

I was so ugly when I was born the midwife slapped my mother

It wouldn't be the first on AB Newmod😏

If the contestants want to participate and the spectators wish to watch, it ain't anybody else's business. No one is getting abused or hurt.

This post is A.I. generated by copilot. Is this the future of answerbank?

The answer may be AI generated but not the question.  Who is posting the question is the real question.

When I put the same question in Co-Pilot I got a different response.

"Beauty pageants are competitions that traditionally focus on judging and ranking the physical attributes of participants. However, they have evolved to include inner beauty criteria, such as personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement. These events are held for both men and women, although they are more traditionally associated with women12. The most prestigious international beauty pageants are known as the “Big Four”: Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth34. Male beauty pageants also exist, featuring standard pageant elements like swimwear, evening wear, and interviews1. Overall, opinions on beauty pageants vary widely, with some celebrating them as empowering platforms and others critiquing their focus on physical appearance."

Newmodarmy, you may have been ugly as a baby, but i was so downright ugly, my mother used to feed me with a catapult. So ugly, in fact, that she had to tie a bone around my neck so that the dog would play with me.

You don't know how the question was asked on copilot. The way you frame the question decides the AI answer. Try it a different way and you will get a different answer. I do know AI's cant post autonomously πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

So who do you think is posting the question, Auntypoll, any why?

Barry, I'm not insinuating this is the case here,  although its well known that people do get paid for adding content to sites. I have a business and regularly get adds for this sort of promotion. The firms are usually based in India.

So AB could be paying people to post content?  I doubt that very much, the company gets very little revenue from AnswerBank.

If they did, I think the paid content would be a lot more subtle.

// I was so ugly when I was born the midwife slapped my mother//

I was so ugly when I was born the midwife slapped  herself
