Afternoon fellow ABers... I have a general enquiry really and wonder if anyone can help me out. I have been single for quite some time now and although I am happy to a certain degree with this .... theres nothing quite like having the buzz of an impending date...it doesnt even have to work out and become a relationship but a few dates now and again does wonders for the old self confidence... so seeing as i havent had a date for a few months i was wondering if anyone knew of where good places are to "pick up" people - and i dont mean it to sound so cheap but u know what i mean just go hav a drink or meet for a coffee or something... anyways having now entered the realm of the full time lezza world (as previously i was only a part time one... long story) where oh where can i meet like minded interesting young ladies? i dont really wanna be out on the "scene" too much cos being a scene queen is not my kinda thing too much backstabbing etc.

also, i have found it really difficult to figure out if a girl im seeing is actually interested in me or is just doing the friendly girly thing of having chats etc .... geez i thought dating men was hard... this is soooooo much harder!

anyways any advice/info will be greatly appreciated! many thanks in advance xxx

I understand that you want to avoid the 'scene' but maybe this could be a starting point? At least you are sure you are going to meet other gay women, and from there you can form relationships that don't depend on the scene as a background. At the very least, you get to explore the format for chatting to (and up!) gay women, and you may find some other meeting places that will suit you better.

I've dated three women since 'coming out'. The first two I met via a lesbian Internet site and neither lasted more than a month.

The third and longest relationship was with a friend of the second 'internet date' and luckily, she too was disappointed with the lesbian scene in London, so we attended the theatre and cinema together and went to restaurants and avoided the 'scene' altogether.

On the whole, dating has proven much more difficult than it was when I dated men, but then I'm 35 and very fussy.

Keep trying and if you're young, give different clubs a go. I'm sure they're not all the same, but I bet they're all TOO LOUD!!

thanks for the advice much appreciated - guess its just a question of right time right place etc.

the scene is a bit too incestuous for my liking but there u go whatever floats peoples boats... not into clubbing too much but am game for giving it a go so who knows what will happen... i know im extremely fussy when it comes to the ladies though im sure miss right for me is around the corner somewhere... probably shopping for shoes!

thanks once again xxx
