Who is Barry Scott? He anounces himself on his ad for Cillit bang like we are supposed to know who he is. But who is he?

Who the "Cillit Bang" is Barry Scott?

Barry-Scott If you watch television in the UK at the moment you won't have been able to avoid the adverts for Cillit Bang. Styled like a very short American infomercial (well, a very short, very bad infomercial) it's presented by Barry Scott. Razorhead has a more detailed rundown of the Ad and, at the moment, the Cillit Bang site has a video of the advert.

Barry Scott's opening line is very reminiscent of The Simpson's Troy McLure's catchphrase; "Hi! I'm Troy McClure, you may remember me from such ___ as ___ and ___". Except that nobody does remember Barry Scott from anywhere.

This big old internet thingy is full of forums and the like with people asking "Just who the "Cillit Bang" is Barry Scott?"

Barry Scott, the consensus of opinion is, is a fictional character created by J. Walter Thompson and played by an actor called Neil Burgess who has also appeared in a music video for Brian McFadden and may have had a coupe of bit parts in little known movies.

Barry Scott is a fictional character portrayed on screen by a budding actor by the name of Neil Burgess. I know this because we used to play for the same sunday league football team (the Crowborough Cross - www.crossb.com) a couple of years back.
