It's Bono and his wretched mind control rays. Listen to enough U2 and you'll be brainwashed. Actually, I don't mind U2, and you can't knock an act that have been at the top for 25 years (he says quietly so as not to wake the Cliff Richard fans), but quite why they're so revered I don't know.
As for Grammy judges, they're biologically programmed to take the safe option and not risk making any decision that suggests an attempt to get adventurous.
Well, out of their official full releases, they haven't failed to hit the top 20 with any single or the top 5 with any album since their first major hit - New Year's Day - in January 1983. So OK, 23 years if you want to be pedantic.
Anyway, my point was only to give credit where it's due. After all, if chart positions were any indicator of quality, then Westlife wouldn't be so utterly cack, would they? :-)
