Has anyone appeared on a gameshow with Michael Barrymore and did you like him? I appeared in My Kind Of Music - musical quiz show and found him to be a bit distant - he wouldn't meet us before or after the programme was recorded, we didn't even get a photo with him - let alone hello or goodbye. I suppose he must of got fed up of contestants, but nevertheless, you'd have thought he could have come up to us beforehand to give us a word of encouragement.

can't say i am surprised, given the way he seems to feel about others based on his behaviour on cbb3.

most celebs on these sorts of show are at least expected to greet contestants. i know of some that actually sit and chat and have a drink with them, some want to and enjoy it, others do it because they feel they should, to put everyone at their ease.

i suppose after a while they do get bored of the contestants but they are being payed a lot of cash so sod their boredom - civility costs nothing.

unfortunately many celebs are like this - its often the bigger ones who are nicest and almost unknowns or mildly famous who play the 'superstar' card.

I had an unknown girl, whose claim to fame was an unspeaking extra role in love actually, demand i make her a cup of tea with evian water once - i told her where to go - i was head of the design dept not a teamaker or runner. (I had decided to make a brew because i wanted one, and i had offered one to everyone in the room, but she wanted hers done separately with separate water)

on the other hand a massive star like paul mccartney bought my pal a drink and chatted to everyone for quite a while.

i'll bet on his next job, he will be all over them just to get a bit of attention, and affirmation from them.

my kind of people? my kind of arse more like!

I meet a lot of 'famous' people - I work in a theatre

I thought Les Dennis yes LES DENNIS was one of the nicest - and at a bad time in his personnel life too!!!

ric - not surprised about LD. Anyone who could have performed that script that Merchant and Gervais wrote for him on Extras has got to be a good bloke. It was so excruciatingly close to the truth, yet he said he loved it, and laughed at it, and was glad to do it. Good bloke, not afraid to laugh at himself. Came over as a bit of a moaner on CBB a few years back, but he was going through a hellish time, and still seemed a nice guy, despite his obvious difficulties.

As for MB....he came over on CBB as a self obsessed, arrogant and manipulative...not surprised he was distant with you Dollie. That said, he may well have been going through drink and personal problems, so perhaps he was having a bad day? But really, I always got he impression that he never really liked the people on his shows, they were merely the butt of his jokes, props to make him look funny or warm, (tho his humour left me cold).

How did you do on the show tho???? Was it fun, despite MB?

I agree on Les dennis - one of the nicest guys ever, bought us all sarnies and drinks, came clubbing with us, invited me to his villa in italy (being polite) etc etc etc

a lovely man

My thoughts EXACTLY about BM, kick3m0n.
Err...MB!

Thanks everyone for your interesting comments - as an aside - yes my son and I did do quite well - we won 1200 and I have to say that Barrymore's staff couldn't have been nicer- from the resarchers to the musicians and cameramen -we were treated like royalty from his team - but sadly he had no time for us. ..... His wife Cheryl (who was his manager at the time) was extremely nice also.
