I cant be the only one who remembers this. Gave me nightmares for ages. Series of hour long weird/horror stories. The main one I remember is when a woman finds what appears to be a fossilised creature/thing in the old cottage they live in. Spooky all the way through. Right at the end she hears a noise at night, comes downstairs to find this horrible creature cradling the fossil thing (obviously its baby) rocking in a rocking chair.. Scared the hell out of me (I was only 10)

yes. broadcast in 1976, though I gather not in all ITV regions and written by Nigel Kneale, who created Quatermass. The episode that stands out (for me anyway) is the one with the unseen rats, "During Barty's Party", making use of the horror genre's most effective tool - the dark.

Thankyou!!! I knew I was'nt the only one. I remember the rats one to, but the worst was the creaturebaby one. Been on about this for years and everybodys told me i'm talking b*****ks. cheers
