I'm so glad I watched this last night; beautiful . Did anyone else catch it and how funny was that black preening bird? Reminded me of David Brent dancing. I loved the swimming elephants too.

The poor location manager - she looked really ill at the thought of what could have happened had the fire got out of control !!
Me and the ladywife loved it, but having the "Planet Earth Diaries" for the last 10 minutes ruined it for me.
As much as I loved the show, I don't want to know how they did it, and what kind of filming techniques they used.
It's exactly the same thing that ruined The Blue Planet for me. I just wanted to sit and be amazed, but instead, the magic was taken away.

It was amazing. I couldn't get over how hard those penguins had it. I am planning to see March of the Penguins. The bird of paradise was hilarious. He didn't get the girl did he?
I did actually enjoy the diaries at the end. Those guys hang around for ages. I have heard in the past that they set scenes, surely that's interfering with nature? Hope it's untrue.

Well, that's my beef with it nagnag, cos the ladywife asked me if they were filming the elephants from so far away on that helicpoter, how could they record the sounds they made ?
It was after I told her the sounds were probably stock audio recordings of a herd of elephants, that a bit of the wonder and magic of that scene was destroyed.
