I liked the end where the real 'Alexandra Maria Lara' explained how she was walking in Munich and she came across the monument to Sophie Scholl who had been executed during WW2. She realised then that age wasn't an excuse for what she had been involved in (Sophie was around the same age).
Apparently there was another follow on film show on German TV but I haven't seen it yet. Haven't a clue what it covers.
Downfall is a truly great film, bruno ganz played the despot racist fanatic brilliantly, the film caught both the mood of the times and the claustrophobic and surreal atmosphere of the bunker better than any film i have seen of that period..
It should have stormed away with a whole bunch of oscars, but because it had no superstar american cast and wasn't directed by steven spielberg it didn't!!!!
