Can anybody remember a 1983 TV series pilot titled 'Killer'? Which long-running TV series was it the pilot for?

This is a quiz question from one of those Christmas fundraising things. The exact wording is, "Which long running series began with a pilot called Killer in 1983?" it is in a section called "TV Detectives", but other answers cover Police series in general and not solely Detectives.
