woodland plots
Hi all, Due to a recent bereavement, the rest of my family and I, have been looking into the possibilities of scattering my late Fathers Ashes in an area of newly planted woodland.
He loved the countryside and had a passion for fishing and we like the idea of returning His Ashes to the soil, where they may be absorbed by a small stand of native trees.
I'm hoping that some of you may have suggestions or advice on schemes that permit this in the UK, we are currently looking into the woodland trust but find all it a little confusing at the moment. Thank you in advance..

A woodland is a beautiful idea but from what I can find there are only two sites available for ashes. Wrabness in Essex and Guildford Surrey. Both under the banner of the respective Wildlife Trusts. Have a look at this site and see what you think as it gives the full information.

May not be what you want but may give you some ideas. A friend of mine had her husbands ashes scattered there last year.
My condolences on your sad loss.
an idea i heard is people get some of the ashes mixed with a sort of safe cement and sculpted into a sort of reef structure and place it on the sea bed for fish and sealife to make their home in or on.
you may be able to get one similar to put in the river where he fished for the fish to swim through...
don't have any links though i am afraid
Logman, I am so sorry about your bereavement. I am unsure what the law is on the scattering of ashes in public places but I have known many people simply scatter the ashes of loved ones in their favourite places of natural beauty. I scattered the ashes of my own parents on one of their favourite clifftop walks, overlooking the sea very early one sunny Easter morning when nobody was about and we had only the lambs and the skylarks for company. Somehow it felt very peaceful and an appropriate way of ending an era.
I do hope you mange to find the right place.
It is my wish and also that of my mother that we have a cardboard coffin and cremation at a Woodland Crematorium. It actually gives me great peace of mind to think that this will happen.
Shaney, my family all know that Norwich is where I want to go.
Best wish Logman. You are doing a wonderful thing for your late father.
