Britains Oldest Mums and Dads

I have just seen the most remarkable woman - Jane who has adopted 4 special needs children,She started at 48 with Annie who was born with weeks to live - she is now 11.She then adopted 3 brothers who she had for respite care and discovered that the parents were putting them up for adoption.She is 58-looks and acts 10 years younger.I had a lump in my throat and then when she took them up to Scotland on holiday its only 10m from me.The place has houses where all the footie stars stay and others who have mega bucks but I have now changed my opinion- they cater for everyone.

She in my eyes is one of the unsung heroes.I dont think she would thank me for that tho:)

I was nearly in tears watching her. I love special needs children but I know myself I could never cope with that even at my younger age. I had so much respect for that woman watching her lastnight. She deserves a worlds best mum award. :-)

Yes Drisgirl, I didn't see the whole programme but I did see her & thought exactly the same as you. Lovely, lovely woman. Such patience & loving devotion - as forgetmenot says she deserves an award.

I watched that programme and like you, I was totally moved by Jane. I don't normally get affected by watching people off TV but there was something really touching about her. She was so devoted to those children and had so much love for them, she was incredibly inspiring.

Thank You all for such lovely replies.Its people like her who makes you take a step back and re-assess your own life and what contribution you make to others.In my case not a lot I'm ashamed to say.

I work with people with disabilities, and at the end of my shift it is a relief to be going home. That lady deserves a medal for what she is doing. She has restored my faith in humanity.x
