I was under the impression that he says 'botty boys' meaning gay men, but his accent makes its sound a bit like he is saying 'batty boys'

i am pretty sure i am right, but i noticed lots of other people think its really 'batty boys' too and after a debate with a friend, who is convinced i am wrong i'd like to know the truth

can anyone back me up please? or am i wrong?

my point is in sachas baron-cohens scripts it is written as 'botty', but the accent makes it sound like he is saying 'batty' - but people haven't realised that it isn't actually batty and have more or less invented a new phrase of batty boy

or is it written as batty? ~
batty makes no sense regarding the meaning, but botty does and is already an established phrase

cheers JD, but that HBO site is american so i am not sure whether it is affiliated with SB-C

it's just botty americanized.... like the song that goes "shake ur batty batty... move ur batty batty" so noones invented a new word through misinterpreting sacha..... doubt ali G would sound right saying "botty".... do u?
The correct pronunciation and preferably in an embarrasing 'white boy trying to be black' accent is 'bwatty bwoy'.
Its not an Americanisation its a carribeanisation!

gutfish - i think that song is saying 'move your body' in an american accent...isn't it?

this is exactly my point about accents making it sound like they are saying a completely different word

He IS saying botty - but with an accent!!

cheers for that gary!!

If you have seen it written as "botty" Joko then that is a mistake on the part of whovever transcribed the script. The correct spelling is "batty" and Ali G is using that word, as in the earlier post, its a Jamaican term.

This was one of the most overused cusses when i was in school over 10yrs ago - long before Ali G - and it was always Batty Boy.
I always thought he was saying "batty" but took it to mean that they "batted" for the other side.
