Indulge In Sweet Bliss: Send Chocolates...

Hi - can anybody help - I recently lost all my computer data and had to do a system recovery. I lost my programs and one of them was TMPGEnc 2.5 which was ace for converting my Mpeg movies at 640 x 480 30fps mode into a format my dvd player can read. I played around for a very long time with it until I managed to create the correct settings for TV like playback! However, I've now had to purchase the latest version of this software which is 3.0Xpress and I can't seem to get my movies to work anymore and the way the format is set up seems to be different for the settings. My specific queries are: should the rate control be VBR or CBR, is the DC component better set at 9 bit or 10 bit and should the video mode be progressive or interlaced? Also there is a field order button - should this be set at top field or bottom field? If anybody has any idea what the hell i'm on about (cos I don't!! ha ha) I'd be really grateful!! If your wondering why I have to convert mpegs to mpegs(!) it's because apparently most dvd players read mpegs at a frame rate of 27.9 and so this latest technology of recording at 30fps means re-encoding for smooth playback! Thank you in advance!!!
