This is a US site but has relevance as there are plenty of opportunities for producers to mess up the bottling - Coca Colas efforts come to mind....
And don't forget the water cooler in the office - ever seen one being treated and cleaned??
There is a new body in the UK that has been set up to cover the bottling of mineral water, see: http://www.britishbottledwater.org/index.html and obviously there has to be some bacteria about or we will live in a sterile bubble and get seriously ill as soon the chance presents itself if we can't build resistance, but the real worry should be the contamination of water by chemicals that lead to cancers etc.,
