It got a terrible review in the papers! I think it will ba a let down to anyone who has read the book

Question Author
oooh really!? i will have to buy a paper and have a look!

gosh i sound sad! ;o)
i saw a review on tv lastnight and the film was really slated. - the acting, the story, everything.!!

The critics have given it a serious mauling, mainly because the complex theology which makes a good msytery novel, is hard to film without some serious storyline pruning, which has left some to feel that the narrative is not clear.

Personally, I didn't like the novel at all - gave up half-way-through, and I don't like Tom Hanks, so the contant hype has already put me off seeing the film.

It will be a success, because if 20% of the people who bought the book see the film, it will be a blockbuster.

Question Author
Yeah andy, thats why i thought it would not be great, books must be pretty hard to translate to films because they are so discriptive, and when they turn visual you lose the narration! if that makes sense!

I'm still gonna go though! hopefully it will be ok! i dont want to come away disappointed when i've been looking forward to it for months though!

awwww.... I loved the book, up to the end and then it got too fast and too pants. I have found this is the case with all of Dan Browns books, in my opinion he is yet to write a tale that ends as brilliantly as they start. I love Tom Hanks too, I fail to believe he will perform badly, if hes not right then the issues with the casting not his skills.

This was always gonna get a slating. Its one of those rare books that everyone has read.

I loved the book but I think Angels & Demons would have made a better film... more action!

The people coming out of the preview premier in Paris ALL said it was not much good, boring, too long etc.

Not one said great film.

Read the book and loved it, the pace was mega. However decided not to watch the film as soon as I found out that Tom Hanks was playing the lead. Not how I imagined the hero to be..... nothing against Tom but he just doesn't fit the role. And that lank hair - yuk
i enjoyed the book an will probably watch the movie as well, but what you all have to realise is that when a book that so many people love is put onto the screen there are bound to be hundreds of loyal fans that are left disappointed, think back to harry potter, i think it wil be alrite, it was never the epic/ fantasitic story everyone made it out to be anyway!
The only book (or novella, in this case) which I think has translated well into a film is 'The Shawshank Redemption'. Other than this, I've found that the book is always better. Still looking forward to seeing the film though!! xx
