Does anyone know the whereabouts in Cardiff that some of the scenes were shot for the episode The Idiot's Box (the telly one) ?

I have looked on the website and it doesn't say much, but Magpie's shop looks similar to a shop that was just down the road from me but it hasn't been a shop in years.

Has anyone recorded this because in one scene where Tennant is outside Magpie's shop you can see a street sign. The end of it is Terrace but I couldn't see the rest due to not being able to rewind.

Just had a look for you. It looks like Mafeking Terrace - it is definitely ****king terrace, and I am not swearing, it's just that the first four letters aren't as clear as the rest.

Mind you, if they are dressing the street up period style, wouldn't they use a false street nameplate too?

TV Zone cites the location as Florentia Street in the Cathays area of Cardiff. In the story the street was Florizel Street which was the original suggestion for the title of Coronation Street, and of course this story takes place in Coronation year.

Thanks Postdog for actually taking the time and looking for the terrace. Although I think the BBC did replace it.

Thanks In A Pickle for finding that link. I did have it before for the first series with the sightings of David Morgans but I forgot it.

Thanks marwel7. You did clear up some stuff, I didn't really think Doctor Who writers were actually that specific, I would have never thought of that link between the two.
