Hi All
Sorry if this is in the wrong section but i was recently involved in a minor road accident, i didnt event think about claiming until the solicitor of one of the parties contacted me and said i should think about making a claim as i was injured slightly. Thing is, iv never or anyone i know has ever claimed for anything! I seriously wouldnt know where to start? Iv saw these no win no fee ads on tv, has anyone ever used any of them? What do u think?

No win no fee? Yeah, right! Ever known a solicitor do anything for free? Thought not.
What happens is, there is an insurance policy involved, which you pay for, and that covers the solicitors fees if you loose your case, so he can't loose either way, but you can.
Take your details to a reputable soliticor. If he thinks you have a winnable case he will represent you - if not, don't waste your time, and money.
Sorry, but I don't see the point of all these 'ambulance chasers'. If you've got a genuine claim then any solicitor should be able to help you. It really get my goat when on one of those adverts on TV someone says something like 'I slipped at work and received 5,000 which really helped'. Helped with what? A nice holiday abroad? A new car? If all these people are making money from being injured slightly then someone somewhere is losing out, probably all of us in higher insurance premiums.

For a 'slight' injury I wouldn't bother claiming. If you haven't lost money from earnings and you have no long lasting injuries it just will not be worth the hassle.
The 'other side' will go through your medical notes with a fine toothcomb, both physical and mental illnesses.
Your employer will be contacted to get your attendance record.
You will feel seriously invaded and it could drag on for literally years.
You will have to waste time attending medicals and so on. Everything you say will be questioned - many times.
It is hugely stressful.
Really - if you didn't feel the need to claim compensation, you are better off putting it behind you and getting on with your life.
