Hey i was just wondering if any of you could reccommend any good British gangster style films ... like lock stock, and snatch ... the kind with actors such as Vinnie Jones etc ... preferably new, but oldish ones would also be appreciated. Im trying to find some for my dad ... he appears to be very fond of violent mobs ... just kidding hehe!
Thanks xx

..fave quote that I can acctually quote on here...
Fat Alan: That's all very well, Jon, but a blade ain't a really effective weapon when you're up against someone who is trained in several different kinds of martial arts. No really, mate, these hands are like deadly weapons. I can protect myself. Come on, go for it. Stab me in the side.
[the others laugh]
Jonny: Why would I wanna do that?
[he stabs him]
Fat Alan: He stabbed me!
[the gang laughs harder]
Fat Alan: He stabbed me in the guts!
Ray: Look at his face!
Jonny: I'm sorry, Bruce.
Fat Alan: Shall I leave it in or take it out?
Ray: Leave it in and go out!
...I also need to watch this now...I'll bring the dvd, you bring the kebebs, lol.....
P.S....I met Rhys Ifans ......
ermindtrude35 you like chilli on your kebab? ;)
The scenes with Denise Van Outen were funny too, but the other really funny scene was the one where they're having the face off with the other gang and they're going on about attaching bayonets! :) I honestly don't think I've laughed out so loud at a film in a long time!! :)
Some films I must mention....
My favourite period for Brit (crime) films is late 1950s early 1960s and I must recommend the following:
The Criminal (1960) with Stanley Baker, directed by Joseph Losey - just as raw and gritty now as it was then; and it also has a great John Dankworth score;
Two other films with Stanley Baker: Hell is a City (1959) set in Manchester, and Hell Drivers (1957) - this one also has Sean Connery and Patrick McGoohan in it
And another favourite of mine is The Shakedown (1959) with Harry H Corbett and a really creepy performance from Donald Pleasance as a pervy photographer in a blackmail racket.
Otherwise I endorse recommendations above for Brighton Rock and Performance.
You might have to buy some of these on line or go to a really good DVD shop because sadly a lot of high street shops regard anything older than five minutes ago as not worth stocking...
