What is the whole point of the moomins?

Its just a kids programme after all not the Arab- Israeli conflict!
When has there ever had to be a 'point' to kids programmes?

The Moomins started as a series of books, and although I love the Polish animated series from the 1980's ( soon to get a British DVD release ), the original books are what you should read.

They are not "just" for kids, I'm 44 and have been reading the books again, having first read them when I was 7.

I still dont get the flippin Moomins and as for going into a shop and buying a book about them ,i wouldn't dare!!!I think it is probably more socially acceptable to walk around reading Razzle or any other budget porn mag than a book about some creepy hippos.

Moomins are trolls, not Hippos.

The Complete 1980's TV series is out on DVD in October, or you can buy it now from Amazon Germany ( the discs have the English versions as well as the longer German versions ).
