Apparently Chris Barries based the odious personality, and voice, of Gordon on someone he used to work with who, no matter what point was made, would always interject with - in pure Brittas whine - "No ... no, you;re wrong there ..."
It may be a bit of an acquired taste but I loved it. I think Chris Barrie's portrayal of the worst kind of jobsworth is excellent. As a point of interest in was mainly filmed at Ringwood leisure centre, not far from where I live.
Like most sitcoms you can find those who both love and Loathe it. Just watch a few episodes and you'll soon know which camp you are in.

This was weird for me. I absolutely hated this show and yet I'd always tune in to watch it to see if it's got any better.
Chris Barrie just had something that made me want to smack him in the teeth.
I remember what it was now, it was the way he held his hand together in front of him, bent down a little and talked through his nose (not literally through his nose.)
The only good thing about this is that when I watch Green Wing I can say "Joanna Clore was in The Brittas Empire" or "Harriet was in The Brittas Empire" but that's about it.
