Can anyone give me the title of tis film please?

My son loved this film when he was about 4yrs (1985), but the film was a good few yrs old then! It's about a small boy out in a small plane with his dad - dad has heart attack & dies and plane comes down in desert.Rest of film is about boy's endurance & courage to fend off creatures and other hardship in the desert. Sorry can't give more details, but remember Aussie or S.African accents.
