I'm old enough to have seen KFM at the cinema. I thought it was hilarious...however, the American Film Institute names Airplane the best comedy of all time. So did the readers of Empire magazine...
This is a standard question we get a lot here on the AB. The answer is, if you think it;s the funniest film ever, then it is ... to you, but tastes vary.
I have friends who'se opinions I respect and whom I admire and care for as people, even though they think that Whitney Houston is an emotional powerhouse who sings from the heart!
Two of my favourites are Trains, Planes and Automobiles and see no evil, Hear no evil. Oh and i love father of the bride, as you can see, i love Steve Martin. My hubbys favourite is Stir crazy. As Andy says, its all personal taste. Oh and Yes, Airplane is a very funny film.
Great film, but personally I love Young Frankenstein, it made me laugh so much it hurt (I'd just had an appendectomy). In fact every time a certain scene is shown in the film it just makes me laugh again!
Some Like it Hot is the funniest movie ever. Great acting, great script, great direction + comedy, suspense and even some music. Monroe was never better, neither were Jack Lemmon or Tony Curtis.
Second favourite: "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." The best ensemble film containing many of the great comedians/comedy actors of the 1960s and from before that time period.
