I couldn't pick 3 faves of all time though - possibly if I put them in categories (drama, comedy, factual or whatever) I might be able to single out 3 in each but of ALL programmes... hmmm, I don't know though it'd have to include The Singing Detective, State Of Play and 70s/80s version of Horizon.

electric, you'd have got on well with some housemates I had years ago. They were soap fanatics and there was one day, Tuesday I think it was, when a quirk of cross-channel scheduling meant they could watch soaps from 5pm right through to 9pm. This is some time ago when the schedules were different and they'd start with Home & Away, then Neighbours, etc etc ending with Brookside at 8.30. I think you'd have loved that... for me, it was nightmarish. If I spent any time on a Tuesday evening in that living room, I'd feel my brain cells winking out of existence as I slipped into a coma.
thanks guys, I have to say that I also love
The F word,
The Sheild
Prison Break
FBI Files
Desperate Housewives
And yes, Wonderwoman1, with River Sh*ty (I call it that too ha!) at first being from Glasgow it was a 'pure cringe' but once you get in to it, it's the berries!! Love it!
B*gger, keep forgetting Waking the Dead's back on till it's too late!

Why are people so obsessed with crime dramas?
Is it because there are so many of them, there's not much else to like?
Or do broadcasters make so many of them because people are obsessed with them - in which case, see my first question.
Supplementary - do all US crime series feature the same young bloke with short dark hair, or just lots of young blokes with short dark hair who all look & sound the same?

Backdrifter, seeing as how I posed the question I thought I should answer. I particularly love Crime dramas coz they are gripping and compelling to watch and you'll see that these crime dramas seem to be in the majority of this line of questioning so I guess I'm not alone. Yes to your other question, they ALL have short dark hair!! Although my fav is Warick Brown from CSI Las Vegas, hubba hubba ;o)
Yes Kaz, indeed my comment was prompted by the fact that virtually ALL the dramas mentioned in this thread are crime dramas (or Lost - yawn!). I think I have a streak of peversity about things like this - I tend to avoid things when I think there are too many of them, and because the schedules are jam-packed with crime dramas I watch very, very few of them.
So, do you watch lots of dramas and it just happens that the US cop ones are your favourites, or do you just tend to watch those and not bother with other drama series? For example, earlier this year the BBC put out a crime series called Life On Mars that was one of the most innovative and interesting cop shows I've ever seen. Something like that, I'm happy to watch because although I mostly avoid cop shows, this one was different and distinctive. Did you see it, would you consider watching something like that?

Hi Backdrifter, yes I would consider watchin Life on Mars and didn't know about it. You see I am not your typical female, I generally don't watch soaps (apart from River Sh*ty) and my boyf and I normally watch telly together so he doesn't go in for dramas much unless it's of a crime nature. We both love the whole american crime things but I watch some British ones too but they are generally not as good.
I don't know why it is I love the whole crime thing so much, it just really keeps me interested and I never miss them. I also love programmes about Ghost too, I used to love Most Haunted and Sea of Souls when it was on, they'd send shivers down my spine but if someone were to recommend something I'd watch it.
I tend to be the same with movies too, horrors, crime, ghosts etc, don't know why, I've just always been like that. Maybe there's a really twisted psychopath in me just screaming to get out!! ;o)
