What do people think of Eastenders now compared to how it was?

I really liked Eastenders it was one of my fav soaps but because all of original characters have gone or are going it is not the same anymore. All these new characters are coming in and its just getting cr*p

Hi Giraffe, agree. I reckon its the government's attempt to control the population as I reckon the suicide rate goes up everytime Eastenders is on.
Unless they do something drastic it wont be on much longer. Last week one episode only attracted 1.5 million which for them at prime time is bad.

well i like this new lad Bradley and his dad is ok too, quite a couple of strong good lookin blokes and they aren't Neanderthal either which is refreshing.

I always used to watch it but just lately can't be bothered. It's really second rate now, with stupid story lines and horrible characters like Denise. There is no cohesion any more, and frankly (I live in the East End) it's so out of touch with reality. Where have all the Muslems gone?

I totally agree it used to be that good you would watch it religiously every night it was on and even watch the omnibus on sunday! Now I don't care if I miss it!
The new characters they are bringing in take away its identity.

I don't think it will make the 30th anniversery!!

Yeah none of the soaps are as good as they used to be i just cant seem to get into them anymore. And eastenders wont be the same once sonia and martin leave...

I have watched Eastenders since the start, its had its ups and downs, but now I'm finding that there are more irritating new people than anything else and only watch maybe once a week.
Sonia and Martin are leaving??????????

i dont like it anymore....its so boring...i loved it and watched it religiously when grant, dan, and steve were in it...its not the same anymore.

I watched it from the start, and carried on for about 15 years. I have caught a few scenes on & off since then, but there hasn't been anything worth getting my teeth into!

If I am honest with myself I will say that it all started going downhill around the time Michelle finally left.

If i'm honest, i actually prefer it now to when it was before, but i'm young (lol a LOT younger than most of u!) so it's prbably different views from me to the people who saw what it was like in 1884 (lol jokes!)
