Oh my goodness, did anyone watch this tripe last night? I watched it purely out of curiosity, as I couldn't really believe they were going to switch Ardal O'Hanlon for James Dreyfuss...yet they did! I watched with some sort of morbid fascination. I was never a fan of it before but I really feel that if Ardal wanted to quit then the show should have been cancelled, or at least a better replacement found. I thought Dreyfuss was great in The Thin Blue Line, as the "camp-but-straight" thing was quite endearing, but it was like watching a train wreck last night. What do y'all think?
I think the show was becoming very tired by the end of the last series. Much as I like James Dreyfuss, I'm holding judgement on this new series for a few weeks.
I`m with saxyjag, I like James Dreyfuss and think that it IS pobbible for his to make a success. Yes, the last series did finish looking a bit weary but that is not to say that this series cannot be O.K. Any other programme would be doomed with a main character change of actor, but this has a very plausible reason for him looking different.
I can't believe there are people who actually like watching this show because they find amusing in the intended way. It is a complete pile of toilet matter. Even my 12 yr old nephew feels like kicking the screen in when it's on. Honestly, it's just a load of feel good when you shouldn't re-hashed american comedy crap, [edited by AB]. Good luck with the laughing.
Gone off this show ...well, I never really liked it, tbh.... it might be typecasting or whatever, but with James Dreyfuss' camp portayals in both the thin blue line and in gimme gimme gimme, he seems entirely miscast as a husband and father.
